With the Daft Punk-scored Tron Legacy at last out in theatres after a solid two years of hype and fidgety anticipation it means we can finally stop talking about the 3D epic – seriously, check the archives for the butt-load of coverage we did on the movie. But while this chapter in the Daft Punk saga may have at last been revealed it would appear as though there’s more to look forward to from the iconic French duo.

In a feature with the LA Times recently Daft Punk’s robot masterminds Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Man de Homem Christo granted a rare interview to the blog and dropped a few tantalising hints at what’s next for the duo, confirming that they’ve already got some new material under their belts.

“Making music for a movie is very humbling,” Bangalter offered, saying that throughout the process of soundtracking Tron Legacy Daft Punk were writing music not intended for the film. “We’ve been working on some of our music concurrently.”

While the duo remained characteristically mum on any major spoilers about what form their next output would take and just when it might happen, they did offer some indication of their artistic mind-frame at the time of recording.

“We like the idea of trying to experiment and do different things we haven’t done in the past,” Bangalter said. ” I imagine [selling out] would be finding a successful formula and sticking with it and always doing the same thing. That is not what is exciting to us.”

Meanwhile trainspotting fans that’ve heard the soundtrack and seen the movie might’ve noticed that one particularly dancey track in the score (featured during Daft Punk’s in-film cameo) didn’t make the cut for the CD release, perhaps to retain the epic orchestral vibe of the whole package. According to the film’s music supervisor Jason Bentley that tune could reappear in the future, saying that it is “somewhat in limbo…I don’t know if it will come out as a Daft Punk track or bonus material. It’s damn good, and who knows where it will end up
